ABOUT PRAIRIE AG SUPPLY

WHO WE ARE

Prairie Ag Supply was founded in 1984 by Gene Snetselaar in Prairie City, Iowa. The business was originally named Snetselaar Seed and Supply. In the early years Gene sold seed corn and beans and then purchased the sprayer parts business from an area farmer. He then moved the business into Prairie City to a location on Highway 163. As business expanded he moved to a larger building located on the town square in Prairie City. It was at this location that he changed the name to Prairie Ag Supply.

The move to the larger location allowed Prairie Ag Supply the opportunity to sell and service larger farm equipment. It was during this time that Prairie Ag Supply became a Great Plains dealer and earned numerous awards including the #1 dealer in the country. Shortly after adding Great Plains, Prairie Ag also added products from Kinze Manufacturing.

In 1994, Gene purchased land 2 miles west of Prairie City on the new 4 lane highway 163. This location provided easier access for customer and a highly visible location. In 1995 the original building was completed and Prairie Ag moved from downtown Prairie City to its current location.

In 2001 Gene’s son, Kevin, officially joined Prairie Ag Supply. This moved prompted the expansion into outdoor power equipment product offerings at Prairie Ag.

In 2022 Kevin became President of Prairie Ag Supply and looks forward to continuing to build on our reputation as a customer focused dealer.
